Raj News
Raj News started on 4th March 2010, in the wake of popular agitations throughout region for creation of a separate Telangana state within the Indian Union. Various groups leading the statehood-movement felt that with a majority of Telugu news channels being operated by individuals from other regions of Andhra Pradesh (which are against the creation of Telangana), there is the obvious scope for partiality and misreporting which could impact the movement. This paved the way for a 24-hour news channel that confines itself to news of the region, which also propagates the Telangana identity.
The channel was initially conceived as T10 (after the 10 districts of Telangana), but since the waiting list with the Government of India's Ministry of Information and Broadcasting for granting licenses for new television channels is long, the promoters bought an existing news channel belonging to the Chennai-based Raj Network, hence the name.
Availability
Raj News is available as a free satellite cable channel to cable TV operators across India. It is also available through leading DTH service providers such as AirTel Digital TV, Tata Sky, Reliance Big TV, Sun Direct, and DishTV. The channel's live video feed is also streamed on its website, and is freely accessible from various online TV streaming websites.
